Letter to My Momma

Published: December 18, 2009

Momma, if we talked about such things
I would tell you,
I met a girl
I think I love her
like I think I love you…
or as much as you would let me.

I wanna make her happy momma.
All I ever wanted
was to see you happy momma.
If God told you so
would you believe I tried?
I just couldn't do it...

Momma, I was hopin'
this big-black hole in me could close-up;
But momma she just like you
she do the things you do
and say the things you say
and she never happy too, momma...

But I'm gonna try hard momma,
I'm gonna try hard to make her happy momma.
Would that make you happy?
